Hello there! My name is Corey Schmitt and I have been officially commissioned as a Notary Public in the great State of Connecticut since 2012! I currently reside in Vernon, CT, and I primarily service the Hartford/Tolland/Windham County areas, however, I am more than delighted to travel to ANY location within Connecticut to assist you with your notarial needs! There is very little that I have not come across in the world of being a Mobile Notary Public and Signing Agent over the last 10 years! I have a wealth of knowledge and experience in a myriad of professional venues. As a Notary Public commissioned by the State of Connecticut, I am hereby a public official. I have sworn an oath to uphold both the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of Connecticut. This responsibility is one that many people take for granted and very commonly abuse. However, when it comes to me, I do not dismiss my responsibilities as such. Truth be told, I find it to be an honor and a privilege to be able to serve my community by providing them with a helping hand as a trustworthy Notary.

I am currently a small business owner and work as a federal/ state income tax preparer and financial consultant for both individuals and small businesses. I have been immersed in the world of taxes for the last 12 years however my professional career thus far in my life has taken me well in to many fields, including medicine, higher education administration and finance. In the medical field I used to be an EMT and used to manage a $50 million inventory for one of the largest pharmacies in CT. In the field of higher education, I used to work for a prominent public university here in CT as a student financial aid adviser and went on to receive the greatest honor of my professional career by being granted the tar e opportunity to serve on the Board of Trustee's of that university (of which is CT's largest state agency and also a $1.4 Billion enterprise). In the world of finance, aside from taxes, I used to be the assistant finance manager for a very prominent PGA event that CT looks forward to every summer! In all of my professional experiences there has always been one common factor and that has been being a Notary. I have provided my signature and embossed my name at least 700 times, with most of them being simple signature acknowledgements.However, as a Notary, I have executed many mortgage/refinancing closings, I have extensive experience in motor vehicle legal situations including witness affidavits for lawsuits, civil subpoenas, errata forms as well as a couple of depositions. I have administered oaths and jurats and perhaps one of the most common documents I come across are various powers of attorney, including general, durable and medical ones. I have also overseen the implementation of all sorts of probate related forms including assigning conservatorship.

If I do not know the answer to something, I am not one to make “educated guesses” or go with my “gut”— I make sure that every answer to any question regarding my job and duties as a notary is something that is able to be backed up and supported by the laws of the State of Connecticut and the information and guidelines set forth by the Secretary of the State’s office and/ or the Office of the Governor. When you ask me to complete a notarial duty you can rest assured that I always follow the proper legal procedures and that I take my duties as both an honor and a privilege!
