I am a notary who started out placing the initial order for a title company. I worked my way up to clearing title, closing and funding department. I started closing only refinances at night. Worked my way to closing purchases and when the attorney wanted to use the title companies for disbursement, I started the settlement agent department for one of the companies I worked with. Title companies unfortunately lay off or even close when business slows down. I decided to start doing the closings full time. I now close over 250 loans a year working for more than one title company.
