I am a former Court Reporter and transcriptionist, having provided stenographic services at the U.S. House of Representatives, Capitol Hill, Washington, DC. MILITARY ID INFORMATION
I'm in a densely populated military area. Numerous people have military identification. Did you know that, per the United States Department of Defense (“DOD”), the photocopying of military identification cards is prohibited and a violation of Title 18, U.S. Code, Part 1, Chapter 33, Section 701. It is punishable by fine and/or imprisonment. A person may request to see military/government identification for verification. They may not photocopy or duplicate it in any way. So, please do not request/insist that I copy a military ID and return with loan documents.

UNDERSTANDING MY RATES:
When loan distributions are made, everyone in the loan process gets paid right away, except the Notary.

While we spend time printing duplicate documents, use printer toner, printer paper, doing document prep, miscellaneous supplies, confirming with your clients, burn fuel driving to your clients (roundtrip), pay tolls, follow all of your instructions, do immediate scan backs, and document drops, then we are asked to wait 30 or more days to get paid. Unfortunately, it is a known fact that too many times Notaries don't get paid at all for loan signings.

Another fact is that in light of what I have shared in the previous paragraph, too many companies are low-balling notaries. For example, print 180 page Refi, x 2 (one for customer, one to drop), document prep time. roundtrip 73 miles (fuel consumption), plus bridge tolls. The type of signing was not disclosed in the offer to the notary (by design). Notary accepted. The Offer to Notary, $90. This is unconscionable low-balling and hiding the type of closing so that the Notary could make an informed decision.

Signing companies who don't pay notaries and/or who low-ball notaries are exposed in the Notary Cafe (www.NotaryCafe.com), Forum. Therefore, my rates are as follows:

$ 25-- eDocument Printing (Not negotiable)
$ 36 -- Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tolls (Round Trip, Not negotiable)
$0.65 -- IRS Allowable Mileage Rate (Not negotiable)
$150 -- Minimum Base Rate REFI, HELOC, Reverse Mortgage, Sale and Purchase Transactions, and Commercial Transactions (Not negotiable)
$100 -- Applications 50 pages or less (plus my non-negotiables listed above).

A 3% Service Charge will be added to all invoices that are 35 days past due from (1) scan back date or (2) document drop date. Not negotiable. It is understood that when you contact me with an offer, that you accept my outstanding service fee charge regardless of any signed offer that follows.
